the role

Ever wondered what it's like to work inside a fast-moving cybersecurity startup that's actually changing how the industry thinks? This is it. You'll be in the room where things happen, not on the sidelines.

You are studying marketing or communications and want to work in The Hague area. Your contribution will be visible from day one. Not filing, not formatting decks. Actual work, with ownership and direct feedback from the people building the company.

You will work alongside our Marketing Specialist across events, video, content, social media, newsletters and online marketing. The role is written for an allrounder, but that is not the only way in.

what you will do

Events and sponsorships

  • Support the planning and coordination of events: logistics, invitations, materials, and follow-up.
  • Help manage sponsorship activations and ensure commitments are delivered on time.

Social media and newsletters

  • Contribute to our social media publishing schedule with content that is relevant to the sharp, global cybersecurity community.
  • Help write and prepare newsletters that reach the right people with the right message.

Online marketing

  • Keep the website current: publish blog posts, update pages, and flag anything that needs attention.
  • Support basic SEO and help us stay visible in the right places.

Design and content creation

  • Create visual content in Canva for social, events and campaigns.
  • If you produce video content, that is a genuine advantage. Bring it.

AI as a working tool

  • Use Claude and other AI tools as part of your daily workflow.
  • Contribute ideas on how we can work smarter across marketing.

If you are exceptionally good at something specific, whether that is video production, graphic design, event coordination or something else entirely, there is room for that too. At Modat, you can focus on the tasks that match your strengths. Tell us what you are good at, and we will figure out together how that fits.

what you bring

This role is open to two different profiles, and we genuinely mean that. The first is a marketing or communications student who wants to work in a sharp, technically driven environment. The second is a security or computer science student who embraces Modat’s mission and sees this as a strong first step into the industry.

If you are studying at a university like Leiden and the idea of helping the marketing of a European Internet Intelligence company appeals to you, do not hesitate to reach out.

What matters most is that you take initiative, follow through, and want to contribute to something with real stakes.

  • You are studying marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • You are available for 16 to 24 hours per week.
  • You are living in The Hague area. This is not a fully remote job.
  • You write clearly in English. Dutch is an advantage.
  • You are organised, take initiative, and follow through on commitments.
  • You are comfortable working with AI tools and curious about how to use them well.
  • You have a specific skill you are proud of, whether that is video, design, writing, or something else. Please tell us what it is.
what we offer
  • A paid working student role with real responsibilities and direct visibility of your impact.
  • A broad range of tasks that covers the full marketing mix.
  • Close collaboration with our Marketing Specialist and direct access to the founding team.
  • A working environment where AI tools are used seriously, not as an afterthought.
  • A front-row seat at a growing European cybersecurity company.
